Consumers looking for the best SUVs can check out two new all-wheel-drive models from Subaru in 2019. Subaru completely redesigned the 2019 Forester SUV and it paid off big. Subaru also brought an all-new Ascent 3-Row family hauler last year and it’s also a big hit. Consumer Reports just announced their Top-10 picks of 2019 for Best Cars of the Year and both Forester and Ascent win their respective categories.
The newly-redesigned 2019 Subaru Forester wins the Best SUV in the Compact SUV category and the all-new Ascent 3-Row wins the Best SUV in the Mid-sized SUV segment.
What does it mean for customers?
CR says the 2019 Forester delivers with a roomy interior, excellent visibility, commendable fuel economy, simple controls, comfortable ride, and responsive handling. The all-new 2019 Subaru Ascent family hauler gets the Top-10 award for its turbocharged four-cylinder engine’s power and fuel mileage, plush ride, quiet cabin, user-friendly controls, and its suite of standard safety features.
CR says in order to come up with the Top-10 list, they racked up hundreds of thousands of miles evaluating new cars, SUVs, minivans, and trucks. The bar is set high to make this list: “Vehicles need to ace our track tests, plus be safe and reliable and score high in owner satisfaction.” Other winners in their respective categories were the Toyota Yaris, Toyota Avalon Hybrid, Ford F-150, Hyundai Kona, BMW X-5, Toyota Prius, Audi A4, and Toyota Camry Hybrid.
The Subaru brand is #1
According to Consumer Reports “Which Car Brands Make the Best Vehicles,” the Subaru brand also tops the overall brand rankings chart this year for the first time ever. The Japanese automaker jumped up six spots knocking off last year's # 1, Genesis luxury brand “off its perch.” For 2019, Subaru is Best Overall Brand, the Best Overall Mainstream Brand, and had the Best Road Test Score among Mainstream brands.
CR says (all) “Subarus have done well in our testing, thanks to roomy interiors, easy access, great visibility, intuitive controls, good fuel economy, and a comfortable ride.” Both the new 2019 Subaru Forester and 2019 Ascent are the “Best SUVs” and are Top-10 vehicles in America according to Consumer Reports.
